Friday Night at the Floyd Country Store
Last Friday we went into Floyd for the evening. We had a nice dinner at Odd Fella’s Cantina and then went over to the Floyd Country Store to see some good ol’ fashioned bluegrass music. It was a banjo picken’, upright bass smackin’, guitar strummin’, harmonica blowing, sweet voice singin’ good time.
Floyd, VA is a special place. Although it is about 40-minutes away from our house, this town is the reason we came here and started looking for property in SWVA in the first place. With property values being a little too high for our tastes in Floyd County, we ended up finding the place of our dreams across the line in Carroll County. The people around here don’t seem to be quite as progressive as those in Floyd, and there isn’t quite as much going on – but they’re generally good, friendly people and we’ve been made to feel welcome by everyone so far.
I will get an update for you soon on all of our little projects, but right now I have to go clean out the building we’ve taken to calling “the bat house” before it starts to rain.
See you at Floyd Fest this year? Or how about the Hillsville annual Labor Day flea market?

We believe that humankind has lost some important things in the march toward progress. That is not to say progress and simplicity are mutually exclusive. We believe we can have both, and this site catalogs our journey as we try to do exactly that.
