Homestead for Sale Near Floyd, VA

[ 5 ] December 16, 2010 |

The House

UPDATE: This property is no longer on the market.

Some friends of ours are selling their house in the near Floyd, VA. They live about 25 minutes from us in an area of Floyd County called Willis.

They have made a lot of improvements to the place and are very handy when it comes to that sort of thing. In-fact, the reason they’re selling is because they want to get into the business of remodeling old houses. In other words, this place is move-in ready – unlike the old farmette we bought! It is on 17.4 acres with a 3-bedroom home, a new 400 sq foot cabin, a new workshop and several other outbuildings. They are asking $199.500.

I know the location has access to high-speed internet and good sun exposure. There is enough flat land for a pasture of a few acres, and some wooded hillside that would make a great orchard. There is also a creek running through the back of the property.

What a deal. You sure can’t get 17 acres for that price around here…

That is a great deal for the land and the nice houses. If only I were young again… darn, I didn’t have any money back then!

Yeah, we could probably get more, but we’re wanting a quick sale so we can move forward with our plans. We don’t want it to sit on the market for a long time and us be in limbo! To date this has been our favorite homestead so far and it is hard to leave it after we’ve put so much work into it. We thought this was the place and we were going to live here the rest of our lives, but things change and I’m learning some priorities require sacrifice. The hope is we’re making a good decision and everything will continue to work out for us.

Stuart I like your comment and can relate. I wanted land even before I finished high school (we never owned land growing up) but it took me almost ten years to get my stuff together to be able to buy our first property!

I am curious if your homestead is still for sale? It is a beautiful place that might fit what we are looking for. Thanks
