Introducing Waylon: My First Father’s Day
On lucky June 13th at about 12:45 in the afternoon Waylon Journey S… was born. He weighed in at 8 lbs, 1.5 oz and was 22-inches long. He was born the old-fashioned way (no pitocin; no epidural; no drugs…) thanks to my strong, brave, wonderful, dedicated, zen-like, powerful, beautiful wife Missy. She is my hero.
So far he is as healthy as can be. He has blond hair and blue eyes like his parents, and – to quote our nurse – “great ol’ big feet” like his daddy. Yesterday was my first Father’s Day and I couldn’t have asked for a better gift.
These two photos are from his first day outside the womb, and you can see how happy we are to finally meet our new son. I’ll put up more photos in another post, along with some other baby pics from around the farm. And I’m sure Missy will want to share her amazing experience when she has time to do something other than eat, sleep and feed. We are blessed to have awesome friends and neighbors in all directions who have stopped by to give us easy-to-cook or home-cooked meals, and for Missy’s parents being here to help out this week. We are also blessed for the great job I have that allows me to take these two weeks off to focus on helping my wife and staring at my son for hours on end.

We believe that humankind has lost some important things in the march toward progress. That is not to say progress and simplicity are mutually exclusive. We believe we can have both, and this site catalogs our journey as we try to do exactly that.

[...] Chicks, Keets and Foals, Oh My! [ 0 ] June 20, 2011 | Everett In case you missed it, we’re “officially” a family now, but Missy wasn’t the only one to hatch a little one around here. We also have month-old [...]
Congratulations! I’m so happy for you. And I’m glad to hear that Missy gave birth naturally. I’ve given birth both ways–fully drugged, and without drugs at all–and there is no comparison. It’s an amazing, empowering experience for a woman if she can do it on her own.
I’m also happy for you both that Missy’s parents are kind enough to help you guys out for the week. Trust me, not all parents are willing to help out their kids like that, even for 3rd and 4th babies.
WOW! Congratulations! I’m so glad everyone is healthy and doing well.
My son has changed everything about my life for the better in ways that I never expected. Being a dad just keeps getting better and better.
Congrats to you both!
Congratulations, Everett and Missy!!!! Hope yall are getting some sleep
And welcome to the world, Waylon!!!
She looks gorgeous especially for just having given birth. All my love to you three.
Congratulations! I’m impressed that Missy was able to have your son completely naturally. I hope to be that strong!
Awww, Everett, congratulations, and Happy Father’s Day! W. is a prince. And tell Missy she looks much too good to have just gone thru labor–and with no drugs. Wow; she’s my hero, too.
Thanks everyone! I look forward to sharing stories of our little country-boy growing up on the farm playing with all the critters.
Alright Missy for going all natural. I did with both of mine and I will never forget the experience. Welcome to the Sisterhood of Mothers
I’m so glad he’s going to grow up away for the rat race on a wonderful farm with the animals and the land around him to discover and learn about.
Congratulations on the new family member. I was all bitter, twisted and angry about life when I came here and I’m smiling now.
Hello Missy! I hope you will remember me. We met at Patrick Springs farm for the shearing. I was the mama with four little ones…I was spinning some of the texel wool the other day and thought about you. Imagine how surprised I was to come across your blog after googling spinning! I am glad to see your babe has been born, congratulations. He is just beautiful! I just started a blog, it is 31rubiesnest@blogspot.com. There is nothing much on there yet, but I plan to publish some photos of the texel wool spun up. I would love to keep up with what you spin from yours. Enjoy your babymoon, and God bless you and your family!
Congratulations. A natural start to a wonderful and natural new life for all of you. Much learning coming your way! Good stuff. Congratulations again. You just got a promotion!
YAY! Awesome! Congrats to your both and kudos to Missy! She is Superwoman!
I’m glad everything went smoothly and everyone is happy and healthy!
Congratulations! Parenthood is such a blessing and it will change your lives for the better more than you can possibly imagine.
If Missy is up for sharing her birth story, I’d love to read about it.
