Our Day on the New River Trail (Video)

[ 4 ] July 6, 2010 |

We haven’t been posting much lately because, as usual, we’ve been working like mad-folk and by the time we plop down at night to eat dinner we are just too exhausted to think about writing a blog entry. But don’t take that the wrong way… A: I love writing the blog and sharing our experiences; it helps us feel connected to something larger even though we’re in the middle of the mountains; and B: The “exhausted” feeling we have is a good one. I like the way it feels to accomplish some important tasks around the place. For instance…

We now have a new front and side porch, both stained to protect the wood. We have a new fence going all the way around the house so our new dog can go on 360 patrol around the house. The front and one side of the house are proudly sporting a new coat of paint, as is the new fence. I cut down two trees (one was dead and the other was dying and threatening our new fence) and chopped up the wood to be added to next winter’s supplies. We also met some great people who don’t live too far away and joined them for dinner once or twice. All in all it has been a busy, fun and productive few weeks – followed-up with a well-deserved “day out”. And with that, I would like to share our video of our day on the nearby New River Trail (skip to the end to see SWIMMING!). On of these days we’ll learn to edit our videos shorter:

PS: From now on we are taking Sundays off. No work online; no work on the house except what is needed to feed ourselves and our animals. Hopefully you’ll see more posts and videos up now that we’ve sealed up the house against the elements and taken care of most of the immediate tasks.

Has all of this work been like an exercise program for you two? Have you also lost weight during this entire process?

I’m glad you’re going to take a real s(S)abbath. Wayne Muller has a great take on it: http://www.spirituallyfit.com/volume2/issue1/stories/waynemuller_1.htm

I was just thinking about you all today, wondering why you’d disappeared…. :-) I’m glad you’re going to give Sundays a try!
