A friend recently asked me for the list of prerequisites we had when looking for a place out in the country. Since we get asked a similar question on a weekly basis (How in the world did y’all end up here of all places?) I thought it would be a good idea to go ahead and paste my response into a blog post. So here it is!
I pulled out our kitchen cabinets for some remodeling work we’re doing and found the following letter, hand-written on plain white paper, laying behind the cabinets. It must have dropped down there before the writer had a chance to send it out.
Yesterday we had a pretty good afternoon thunderstorm roll through. It cleared up shortly after. Life was out in abundance, and I managed to capture some of it. Enjoy!

Missy finally finished editing this video that’s been sitting on our camcorder tape for about a week. In it you’ll see our property from the vantage of the back yard.
We believe that humankind has lost some important things in the march toward progress. That is not to say progress and simplicity are mutually exclusive. We believe we can have both, and this site catalogs our journey as we try to do exactly that.
